When we started Organic Bath, one of our primary goals was to make giving back a core foundation of our company. Our goal is not only to create the highest quality organic bath and body products but also to give back to our planet and those who live on it. We are excited to partner with the Global Soap Project to aid them with their mission to provide millions of bars of soap to vulnerable populations around the world.
I first read about the Global Soap Project a couple years ago in an article from CNN. I remember reading that access to clean water and soap could save the lives of millions of children every year. It’s amazing that something so basic, that we take for granted, could save so many lives.
The Global Soap Project was founded by Derreck and Sarah Kayongo in 2009. The organization collects used soap from over 1,100 hotels across the U.S. and reprocesses that soap into new bars at its plant in Georgia. They make about 30,000 bars of soap every week. Millions of bars of soap have been distributed to over 30 countries on four continents through non-profit and government partners.
Based on statistics from the World Health Organization, every year diarrheal disease claims the lives of 1.5 million children under the age of five. UNICEF states: “Handwashing with soap is among the most effective and inexpensive ways to prevent diarrheal diseases and pneumonia, which together account for 3.5 million child deaths annually.”
We truly believe in the mission of the Global Soap Project and are proud to donate a portion of every Organic Bath Co. sale to help fund the processing and distributing of soap to those who truly need it. We just launched our new organic body washes and we will be donating 20% of the proceeds for the first 200 bottles sold to the Global Soap Project. Please join us in supporting this life saving cause.
